Hugo Paice - Creative Director

Experience:

Hugo has 20 years experience in producing animation for the pharmaceutical, biotech and medical industries. As the founder and Creative Director at Random42 he has produced around 150 mechanism of action medical animations and won over 60 industry awards. Originally trained as a sculptor he became interested in using computer graphics to create simulations of organic life. Hugo created Random42 to showcase this computer art in exhibitions and then naturally magnetised towards creating animation to show the complex mechanisms within the human body at the cellular and molecular levels for global pharmaceutical companies. As the Creative Director, Hugo continues to encourage the team at Random42 to see the true elegance of nature and reflect this in their work.

Ben Ramsbottom - Medical Director

Education:

PhD Molecular and Cell Biology - The University of Glasgow

Experience:

Ben is a PhD molecular and cell biologist who has experience both within the pharmaceutical industry and within the publishing industry that serves it. For several years, he worked as an Editor of a publication that identified the latest discoveries in science which support drug discovery. This provided him with a broad background in almost all therapeutic areas relevant to the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to this, he has worked as a research scientist for AstraZeneca and The University of Glasgow. As the Medical Director at Random42, Ben writes scripts and provides continual scientific support for all projects, ensuring that they are scientifically correct and accurate.

Angus Litster - Director

Experience:

Angus has over 30 years experience in healthcare advertising including being part of the team that set up Saatchi & Saatchi Healthcare in the UK during the mid-1990’s. Earlier success was as the MD of a specialist agency that handled the Nurofen launch in 17 countries worldwide. Having worked as the MedComms Director for the European Coalition of Positive People he remains committed to the worldwide plight of HIV/AIDs sufferers. His knowledge of both global Rx and OTC medicines coupled with his general management experience help ensure that the company runs in a smooth and professional way.

Uli Kilian - Production Director

Education:

Experience:

Uli is the Production Director at Random 42, supervising day-to-day production as well as establishing and improving workflows. After initially studying economics and computer science in his home town, Cologne, Germany, Uli followed his passion in 3D graphics and retrained in digital media design. He has ten years experience working in 3D and post-production and has helped to lead the expansion of a number of small firms. In addition, Uli has led international courses in post-production, and has contributed several articles to digital production publications.

Matthew Sugars - Senior Art Director

Experience:

Matthew has over 10 years of experience creating 3D animation and graphics for broadcasters such as BBC, ITV, Channel 4 as well as The Discovery Channel and The History Channel. Matthew has worked on many high profile projects including several episodes of ‘Horizon’ for BBC and a major US adaptation of Brian Greene’s bestselling book ‘The Elegant Universe’. As well as a career in broadcast graphics he has also taught 3D animation and photography at a local college. Matthew is also a keen landscape photographer and has had his work exhibited. As Art Director Matthew is responsible for leading the animation team and for co-ordinating the overall look for projects.
