Cardiovascular Disease and the Role of LDL-C
December 2006
This animation examines the complex processes involved in
dyslipidaemia. It looks at both the negative effects of excess LDL
cholesterol in the blood stream and the beneficial role
of HDL cholesterol, with particular attention to reverse
cholesterol transport, whereby HDL-C particles can transfer
cholesterol from arterial wall macrophages through the
blood stream for excretion via the liver.
